Service Transparency
Third-Party APIs
Beetle Box connects to external services for specific features. Those providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
Google and Firebase
Firebase provides authentication, cloud data storage and server functions. Optional Google integrations support Google sign-in, Calendar connection and, on supported Google and Android environments, Play Games. Play Games is not currently supported by the Beetle Box Windows desktop application; standard Google account sign-in on Windows is a separate authentication method. Google AI services process prompts needed to generate AI responses. Account identifiers, authorization data, prompts or feature data may be exchanged only as needed for the selected service.
Maps and location services
Map Smart Cards can use device geolocation together with OpenStreetMap Nominatim and Overpass, OpenRouteService, and links to Google Maps for geocoding, nearby-place discovery, directions and map display. Location access remains subject to device/browser permission.
Information and media services
Open-Meteo supplies weather and geocoding data. OMDb and Apple iTunes Search supply movie or media metadata. TheSportsDB supplies sports information and artwork. Wikimedia-hosted imagery may appear with sports content. Searches sent to these services can include the place, title, artist, team, league or player requested by the user.
